There is something about plugging devices in to charge that I am beginning to connect with (excuse the pun) and even envy! Watches, Phones, Pads, Pods, Cars. Not to mention lightbulbs, flashlights, generators, inverters, converters, and everything in between ... So much plugging in and recharging that then begs the question:
How do I plan to plug myself in to recharge?
It’s the kind of thing one forgets to remember and for me it’s as simple as plugging into nature. Somewhere where the real sounds of nature are present; water, insects, wind through trees, waves, streams, birds, being in places where sounds, smells, textures and images are not designed or manufactured by humans. It is these sacred spaces and places that allow me to replenish and recharge. We are extremely blessed in our beautiful home town of Cape Town to have mountains, forests, unique Plant Kingdoms, beaches, and oceans (not one but two!), and so it is, in fact, relatively easy to recharge ourselves when one remembers. The magical power of Nature has an unlimited source of energy if we just take the time to plug in.
Even as our beautiful country struggles to charge all our devices and keep the lights on, most of us are still able to plug our souls in and make that connection with nature. Sadly this is not a privilege available to everyone, but certainly access to nature must be a universal and most basic human and animal right worth fighting for.
It is with all this in mind, while cooking up our balms butters and soaps, that we focus on combining clean, simple, nature-based ingredients that come mostly from sustainable, local, family-run, non-commercial farms. We use these ingredients to cook up a skin food that supports, nourishes and replenish our skin, and that is, literally, food based. Yes, we'll keep saying it because not many can, our skin food range is food grade and biodegradable. It’s edible (although not particularly good on the palate). Like all good food, it heals, replenishes and recharges.
We stay away from the naughty stuff, while many other commercial and so-called natural companies pump out products from industrial-factory-laboratories at ridiculous prices that go towards their HUGE marketing budgets, only to convince you to purchase something that essentially takes you, your skin and our planet as far away from our nature as possible while leaving a trail of pollutants in its wake.
It has been such a privilege for Yael and I to have been a part of this year’s journey, that accesses and celebrates magical healing power of Nature. People across the country and now internationally have responded with messages of how our products have helped heal them. We have both anecdotal and scientific evidence of our products effectiveness.
From all of us at Zero BS we wish for you a year of replenishment, recharging and coming home to the magical powers of Nature.
